I see these '100 best burger' articles in the window of some place and I just feel compelled to walk in. Almost involuntarily, like how girls must feel they have to throw themselves at me immediately upon laying eyes on me. It's quite a nuisance really. But such is the life of KungFuChef. So once again I take the challenge to find a best burger in the world and it brings me to a french place this time. Nice-Matin is nice-looking although boring really. The decor is typical of white tablecloth french brasserie with nothing stand out or exceptional whatsoever. The lunch/brunch menu was small but had the 'five napkin burger' which was exactly why I came in. I didnt bother with an appetizer since I didn't feel particularly impressed by the menu and I also wanted to leave enough room for the 10 oz of beef coming my way. The burger arrived cooked to order perfect temp (which is medium for a burger in my opinion). The burger had melted comte cheese and was covered in extremely oily and undersalted onions. There was also one perfect ripe tomato and a piece of red cabbage to accompany. I had ketchup and mayo on the side since they offer no special sauce. The burger once built towers over your plate and must be cut in half to be eaten properly without spillage. The oily onions are kind of a let down but the beef tasted great. The comte was also an awesome choice of cheese and a nice change from all the blue i've been eating but it wasn't enough to make this burger worth the $15 price tag. I don't think this burger was bad, but it wasn't awesome.
